The District The District says it will mitigate this by doing loud construction outside of school hours. But, the project is huge and there is not enough time during summer to complete all the loud portions, which can occur at many different phases (demolition, framing, etc). Moreover, noise ordinances do not permit construction work to occur before school, nor very late into the evening after school. School hours are inevitably primetime for construction.
Imagine trying to learn math here!
The temporary campus is slated to be right next to the main demolition and construction zone for the permanent Middle School campus, separated only by a chain link fence. Inevitably, construction is going to be loud (think jackhammers, crashing rubble, beeping trucks, and lots of hammering).
This will disproportionately burden children with existing learning and behavioral challenges.
The Measure G Bond language provided that it would “improve accessibility for students with disabilities” but this does the opposite.
